WHY THE TALL SHIP COULD WIN

For once, the journey
is the whole point.

Canvas above you, an island on the horizon and a job to learn on deck. This is the contender for the crew who want to come back with a story that begins, “So we got on this wooden ship…”

01

The boat is the destination

Four nights aboard makes the voyage the whole trip, with no daily rush back to a hotel.

02

Everyone can join in

Learn a little of the rig and help on deck under the crew’s direction.

03

A concrete June contender

June 2–6 is a published sailing-and-hiking departure. The next step is securing six places.

THE IDEA / THE TALL SHIP

Your crew. A wooden schooner. Four nights aboard.

Board Lewis R. French in Camden for its June 2–6 sailing-and-hiking voyage. Learn the ropes, explore an island on foot and let meals on deck set the pace. Four nights aboard gives the crew a shared world of its own.

Choose this when the ship itself is the reason to go. Sleeping aboard and sharing the work on deck makes the crew part of the voyage.

THE CASE FOR UNDER SAIL

The ship becomes your shared world.

A little work on deck. A long conversation with nowhere else to be. Another island in view. This trip gives all six of you the same adventure from the moment the lines come off.

THE CREW EXPERIENCE

Get your hands on the adventure.

Ask the crew to show you the work: sails, anchor and helm. Learning a small part of the ship together is the kind of thing you will still be talking about over dinner.

THE WEATHER PLAN

A strong fit.
With a real-world plan.

Early June on the Maine coast calls for layers, a waterproof shell and a willingness to follow the wind. Expect cool mornings and evenings, with fog or rain possible. Shore temperatures do not describe the chill on a moving deck.
